How do I sell a dress?

Fill out a description of your dress on the Sell A Dress page.

Can I upgrade my listing?

Upgrades to a featured listings are available for a small fee. Your dress will be seen by hundreds of more shoppers just by featuring it on one of our shopping pages. For $10, your dress will be on our main shopping page, or for $5 your dress can be seen on the specific size page. Let us know if you'd like to upgrade at any time. Does LDS FormalWear keep my dress while it is for sale?

No. As the seller, you keep possession of the dress at all times until payment is received. We are just a service to connect you to buyers.

My dress doesn't have sleeves. Can I still sell it here?

Dresses must have at least a cap sleeve and contain no high slits, low backs or low bust lines. The hem must also reach to at least the knee.

How much does it cost to sell my dress on LDS FormalWear?

Standard listings are free, you can upgrade to a featured listing for a small fee. Featured listings sell much faster and are seen by more shoppers.

What do I do when someone contacts me about buying my dress?

Answer any questions they may have and give them the zip code you will be shipping from so they can get shipping estimates.

Who pays for shipping?

Normally the buyer would pay for shipping. This way is recommended because the buyer may choose a more expensive method, like overnight shipping or want to ship only with a certain carrier.

How do I get money from selling my dress?

Most sellers use services like paypal to get their money. Paypal lets you send an invoice to the buyer, then when the money goes through you can send your dress.

What if I don't get my money?

Don't send your dress until payment is received, then if the money never comes you won't be out a dress.

When should I mail my dress?

Send it as soon as you can after payment is received. Make sure the buyer knows when to expect the shipment.

How should I mail my dress?

Place the dress in a box that fits it comfortably. It's almost impossible to ensure it will arrive without any wrinkles, but handle it with care to minimize misshaping or any other problems that could occur.

My dress isn't selling, what should I do?

Consider lowering your price. Dresses under $100 always sell quicker. You can always upgrade your standard listing to a featured listing for a small fee. Featured listings always sell so much faster than standard listings.

How do I make changes to my listing?

Tell us the name and size of your dress and we can make those changes for you.

I've sold my dress, now what?

Let us know and we can remove your listing. Be sure to tell us the name and size of your dress too.

Buying A Dress

How do I buy a dress?

Contact the seller and arrange for making a payment. Most sellers like to use services like paypal to transfer funds. Ask the seller to send you an invoice, then you can pay with a credit card online. Or you can choose the old fashion way and mail them a check. Alow at least 2 weeks for the mail and check to clear, before your dress is even sent out.

Do you have a store I can come shop at?

LDS FormalWear is an online store only. Check our Business Listings for more modest fashion resources, including stores in your area.

What if my dress doesn't come?

Before purchasing, check with your credit card company or bank to see how they handle transactions when an item is never received. Remember to use caution and good judgment when dealing with any one over the internet. If you found you have dealt with a dishonest seller, let us know and their account will be terminated. LDS Formalwear.com is not responsible for the transfer of goods and only provide a service to buy and sell, we do not actually sell or own items.

Who pays for shipping?

Normally the buyer. That way you can specify how you want it delivered and how fast you need it.

Will my dress need to be pressed when it arrives?

You can count on having your dress steamed or pressed after arrival. Wrinkles during shipping will almost certainly occur.

The seller's email is not working, what do I do?

Make sure that you replace the word "at" with the symbol @, like any normal email address. We type emails this way to protect our users from spam. Example: jane at mail.com type as: jane@mail.com. If you still find that the email is not working, contact us and we will check our records to see if we can help.

We're having a modest fashion show, can you provide dresses for our event?

LDS Formalwear.com does not actually own the dresses, we only provide a service for those selling modest dresses. Most dresses are sold for a fraction of the original cost. You are always welcome to contact the individual sellers to see about buying their dresses.
